Each time the Lodge approaches, my perception changes. It’s happened for many years in the lead-up to our gatherings, and it’s strongest of all with the lodge. I experience and welcome it each time as a deep and profound blessing- a glimpse of Truth from the Mother in whose name we gather. My perception becomes more vivid, colours are more luminous, sounds are clearer, especially natural sounds like Birdsong. It’s like something has been removed in the filter through which experience usually comes.
It usually arrives without warning, a few days or a week before the Lodge, and lasts for a few days afterwards. It’s quite amazing, and I feel deeply grateful, but I also know that this luminous perception is open to all of us – it’s always here. It’s how things truly are. My feeling is that the perception, this vivid perception, is what is always there but it’s clouded by human experience, by our parts, by our traumas, by our stresses, by the busyness of our lives and our constant chattering minds. When all this is still, this is what is here, this is what is real. I also know, although it’s mine, as it belongs to all of us, it isn’t mine, in the sense of something I’ve learned or earned or something that elevates me beyond anybody for whom I hold space. This is the vivid and luminous space that exists for all of us when we’re spiritually connected and into which I welcome you all into Circle.
This is given to me purely so that I can hold these spaces, so that I can hold these spaces with my whole Universal Heart, uncomplicated by my own earthly tiny life. It’s the energy of Spirit. It’s the energy of the Mother. It’s the energy of the Earth, the great luminous beauty and truth into which I will welcome all of you on Saturday and we will tap into this, the Source and leave nourished and strengthened.
